About the 10GEA
The 10 Gigabit Ethernet Alliance was organized to facilitate and accelerate the introduction of 10 Gigabit Ethernet into the networking market. It was founded by networking industry leaders: 3Com, Cisco Systems, Extreme Networks, Intel, Nortel Networks, Sun Microsystems, and World Wide Packets. Additionally, the Alliance will support the activities of IEEE 802.3 Ethernet committee, foster the development of the 802.3ae (10 Gigabit Ethernet) standard, and promote interoperability among 10 Gigabit Ethernet products.
The 10GEA has successfully completed its corporate objectives:
- Support the 10 Gigabit Ethernet standards effort conducted in the IEEE 802.3 working committee
- Contribute resources to facilitate convergence and consensus on technical specifications;
- Promote industry awareness, acceptance, and advancement of the 10 Gigabit Ethernet standard
- Accelerate the adoption and usage of 10 Gigabit Ethernet products and services
- Provide resources to establish and demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability and generally encourage and promote interoperability and interoperability events
On March 7, 2003, a Certificate of Election to Wind Up and Dissolve the 10 GEA was filed with the California Secretary of State, and thereupon, the corporation discontinued any further conduct of business.We (new 10gea) are continuing this site to exist as a reference library for materials that were created by the 10GEA.
Furthermore we want to use this site to focus on promoting ethernet as an alternative access method for Carrier Services: carrier ethernet services. And to promote the availability of (10) gigabit ethernet circuits.
